ACCUSPEED Laser Velocimeter
The KELK ACCUSPEED Laser Velocimeter is engineered to outperform other laser speed and length measuring devices in the most demanding mill applications. Using technology developed by KELK physicists and engineers, it delivers industry-leading accuracy, extended standoff distance, and the ability to measure low-reflectance targets, all protected by an integrated water-cooled enclosure — making it ideal for casters, hot and cold strip mills, tube mills, bar mills, section mills, plate mills, and processing lines.
COLD MILL APPLICATIONS
ACCUSPEED LASER VELOCIMETER ASDC
A non-contact, optoelectronic speed and length measurement device, using unique technology developed by KELK engineers to deliver outstanding performance in the harsh environments of steel rolling mills, including cold mills, section mills, plate mills, and processing lines.
HOT STRIP MILL APPLICATIONS
ACCUSPEED LASER VELOCIMETER ASDH
Available in a variety of configurations for hot strip mill applications, including a choice of 3standoff distances and 2different air purge nozzles and head mounts, allowing users to select the best mounting arrangement for each application.
ACCUSPEED LASER VELOCIMETER ASDC
ACCUSPEED ASDC Optics Probe + ASD-EU Electronics Unit + ASDC Opto-Electronics Unit
The ACCUSPEED Laser Velocimeter ASDC is a non-contact, opto-electronic speed and length measurement device. It uses unique technology developed by KELK engineers to deliver outstanding performance in the harsh environment of steel rolling mills.
The ACCUSPEED ASDC is specifically designed to be used in cold mills, section mills, plate mills, and processing lines, as well as in other industrial applications outside metals rolling. The ACCUSPEED ASDC is designed for mounting above and below the passline. It can be equipped with an optional air nozzle flap and mounted below the passline.
The ACCUSPEED ASDC is available in a variety of configurations, including a choice of three standoff distances, allowing users to select the best mounting arrangement for each application.
The ACCUSPEED ASDC is suitable for measurement and control applications throughout the metals rolling process, including:
Speed measurement for Mass Flow Automatic Gage Control
- Length measurement for Quality Verification
- Multi-velocimeter synchronized differential speed measurement for Elongation Control
- Flaw tracking for Surface Inspection
- Length measurement for Cut-to-Length Control
ACCUSPEED LASER VELOCIMETER ASDH
ACCUSPEED ASDH OPTICS HEAD + ASD-EU ELECTONICS UNIT
The ACCUSPEED Laser Velocimeter ASDH, is a non-contact, opto-electronic speed and length measurement device. It uses unique technology developed by KELK engineers to deliver outstanding performance in the harsh environment of steel rolling mills.
ACCUSPEED ASDH is specifically designed for use in hot strip mill applications. The ACCUSPEED ASDH is available in a variety of configurations, including a choice of 3 standoff distances and 2 different air purge nozzles and head mounts, allowing users to select the best mounting arrangement for each application. The ACCUSPEED ASDH optics head is designed to be mounted above the passline.
Available configurations and options also enable the ACCUSPEED ASDH to be also used in cold strip mills, tube mills, rod/bar mills, section mills, plate mills, and processing lines, as well as in other industrial applications outside metals rolling. Configured appropriately with reduced visibility air nozzle and flap, the ASDH1000 optics head may be mounted below the passline, i.e. under the roll table. Please contact KELK for more information about these applications and other KELK products that may be better suited for these applications.
The ACCUSPEED ASDH is suitable for measurement and control applications throughout the metals rolling process, including:
- Transfer bar tracking for Crop Optimization
- Length tracking for Feed-Forward Automatic Width Control
- Length measurement for Quality Verification
- Length measurement for Cut-to-Length Control
- Speed measurement for Mass Flow Automatic Gage Control
- Multi-velocimeter synchronized differential speed measurement for Elongation Control
- Flaw tracking for Surface Inspection
KELK application specialists will consult with the customer to determine the best model and standoff distance for each application, and will prepare a detailed installation drawing - free of charge - showing the recommended mounting arrangement as well as any supplementary system components (available from KELK) air nozzles are part of the standard supply that may be required.
