The ACCUCAMB C885 is a non-contact optoelectronic gage that measures camber, strip angle, centerline, and width during rough rolling, and centerline deviation and width during finish rolling. It uses an area-array camera to extract bar edge data, with advanced algorithms ensuring accurate detection despite temperature gradients, scale, and steam.

APPLICATIONS 

 

The ACCUCAMB uses an area array to measure width, centerline, shape, and angle of the bar, and can be configured for either True Bar Shape measurement (determining bar straightness) or Strip Steering (determining centerline position and angle). Both applications share the same detection hardware but differ in configuration, I/O options, and installation — with the ACCUCAMB intended for use in Hot Strip Mills.

 

  • True Bar Shape 

    The ACCUCAMB C885, typically located at the rougher exit, captures overlapping images to reconstruct the True Bar Shape of the entire bar — distinguishing actual shape changes from bar movement, unlike centerline deviation measurements alone — giving operators reliable data to correct bar shape.

  • Strip Steering

For strip steering, the ACCUCAMB C885 monitors centerline deviation, strip angle, width, and camber at one or more finishing mill interstand locations, giving operators a graphical view of strip alignment. Its low measurement latency supports both dynamic tracking corrections and closed-loop automation.
